About me…..

My name is Gillian and I’m based in Newton Mearns in the Southside of Glasgow.

Having spent 23 years working as an Accountant for a large international accountancy firm, I decided to take the plunge and start my own cake business in 2014, shortly after Ruaridh was born.

I am a mum to three fantastic kids – my daughter Jaimie, and sons Cammy and Ruaridh. I work from home, which allows me to manage my cake diary around school pick up and my kids activities!

I originally started out focussing on creating cupcakes, but very quickly moved on to larger and larger cakes! I now do anything from cupcakes, to cupcake bouquets, to large celebration cakes. Since starting in 2014 I have learnt a huge amount from various sources including attending cake decorating classes, taking online classes and watching lots of You Tube tutorials! I am learning something new every day! I am also the Treasurer to the Glasgow Branch of the British Sugarcraft Guild.

One of the things I enjoy most about cake decorating is making models for the tops of my creations – I have been inspired by some really great people, who I have been lucky enough to attend classes with including Zoe Hopkinson of Zoe Fancy Cakes and Etty van Urk, the Cake Dutchess. In 2018 I was hugely honoured to become a Cake Dutchess Instructor and I have been teaching Cake Dutchess designed modelling classes since the start of 2019.

As well as running Cake Dutchess modelling classes in 2019, I also kicked off my own range of classes, including cake pop, cakesicle, cupcake and cupcake bouquet classes. These have proved hugely popular and I have absolutely loved teaching them.

2020 sees a new addition to my range of classes – I’m proud to say I became an Accredited Cake Minds teacher at the end of 2019, and my Cake Minds classes are starting in February 2020. Cake Minds is the genius idea of Rhu Strand – its about combining the learning of a new skill, with building new friendships. The classes run monthly and can be booked on a termly basis, the first term running for 4 months.

I work on my own from home and as such I have a limit to the orders I can take on each week – so please get in touch if you would like to book in for a cake as my diary does book up quite far in advance. I take a 50% deposit at time of booking.
